This movie was a romp -- overdone theatrics,over-the-top musical numbers, and lots of wink-wink-nudge-nudgeallusions. Actually, I probably missed most of those -- but I gotenough of them to keep smiling all the way through. Nicely plotted, plenty of really good catch-lines, and warm-hearted at the core. Iespecially like the end credits, where crew members and the usuallyfaceless support people did a kind of 'red carpet' appearance, to theapplause and cheers of the mob. Just watch the film. The movieshows the pain and returns of Love. Om Prakash Makheeja the early 70'sjunior loves the super star and dream girl Shanti Priya,After that herealizes the truth and he so only get murdered. The climax was good andwe will love it. End credits was also a different one. The movies plotwas written by Farah khan which we early seen as the choreographer. Butin the movie we see her as a director. Movie is such as a fantasystory. Butfrankly, it never really matters. This film is simply one of the mostentertaining films made in recent times. A spoof of Hindi cinema ofpast and recent times, the film both pokes fun at it and celebrates itsunique, inimitable style. As the story progresses the movie becomeseven more alluring. It is at times a drama, at times a thriller, butgenerally it is just a musical comedy which is not to be takenseriously. Technically the film is very impressive. Farah Khan's direction is verygood. The film is extremely colourful, with great costumes andfantastic, glossy sets. The 1970s settings are particularly authenticand visibly well-invested. One more aspect which helps to recreate themagic and the atmosphere of the 1970s is the wonderful soundtrack. The film contains numerous sequences which will have you floored. TheFilmfare Award ceremony is one of the funniest sequences in the film. The red carpet scene with celebrities predicting the winners was veryfunny. The next scene which includes the ceremony and the Best Actornominations clip was absolutely hilarious. I could not stop laughing asevery nominee was unfolded, and Abhishek Bachchan and Akshay Kumar'sreactions when they lost were awesome. The following sequence was the after-party which was another memorablescene. It was truly a moment of unity and celebration for Hindicinema. As far as acting goes, Om Shanti Om is a winner. Every actorunderstands the film's mood and acts accordingly. Shahrukh Khan isgreat as the Oms. He's simple as the first Om, cool as the second Om,and overall is as witty and funny as always. Deepika Padukone makes aconfident debut. She is very beautiful and likable. Kirron Kher shinesin another comic role as the loud mom. Shreyas Talpade delivers anoteworthy performance as Om's best friend and holds his own despite asmaller role. Arjun Rampal plays the typical villain with style. Well, to sum it up, Om Shanti Om is an extremely enjoyable flick whichshould provide a great watch for the entire family. Like Farah Khan'sprevious offering with Shahrukh Khan, Main Hoon Na, this film has agenuine sense of fun. It is the quintessence of Bollywood's uniquenesswhich makes us realise why and how much we love this film industry. Remember not to expect anything serious or life-turning, and you willnot be disappointed.
